Football coverage has changed. No longer are fans happy with the same high contrast tele-photo lens shots from the sidelines. We want to get closer to the players. We know them better. And we want to play with this a little bit. Football illustration has grown to become one of the biggest movements in coverage of the game in the last two years and Dan Leydon has established himself as among its finest creators.
Dan’s an illustrator based in Sligo, Ireland and works regularly for clients like Nike, ESPN, Bundesliga
Gatorade, Umbro and BT Sport as well as for teams like Juventus FC, Manchester City FC and LA Galaxy.
In 2016 he won BT Sports’ inaugural Champions League Draw, a competition between esteemed football illustrators. In 2017 he retained the trophy Real Madrid style. So yeah, he’s pretty good. You can check out some of his work below.
