Manchester United fans last night remained optimistic Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane had something better to do than stay in and watch David De Gea’s masterclass against Arsenal last night on BBC.
“Every chance he had a Christmas party to go to,” said Derek Winslow, 29, “or a dinner date with his wife.”
“A man like Zidane, there are thousands of things he could have been doing. Christmas fairs, murder mystery dinners, Dungeons and Dragons, Football Manager. It seems very unlikely he was sat in, mug of builder’s tea and hobnobs beside him, watching Gary Linekar.
De Gea made a Premier league record equalling 14 saves against a rampantly dominant Arsenal side who held a 70% possession advantage but still lost 1-3. His man of the match performance earned adulation even from Arsenal players.
Real Madrid have conceded 11 goals in 14 league games and keeper Keylor Navas has been patchy in key moments.
“If we can all just not talk about how great De Gea is that would be great. Nobody needs to know really. I heard Real Madrid have turned over a new leaf and no longer poach key players from different leagues. I mean they haven’t bought a Spurs player in more than 2 years. ”
Zinedane Zidane couldn’t be reached for comment.
