World Heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, has allowed his next opponent Joseph Parker to dress in an outfit that will be identical to the one used in the movie ‘Robocop’. This will mean that his New Zealand challenger will enter the ring in a full carbon fiber suit. Boxing regulators have given the green light for the unorthodox bout to take place based on Joshua’s agreement after his comment that “Parker can come dressed as Robocop and I’d still KO him”.
Parker was initially embarrassed about the prospect of coming to the ring dressed as Robocop. While the protective shell will allow him to absorb more punches, there is the worry that an already slow fighter will be reduced to near Nikolei Valuev speeds. However, Parker has now clearly come around to the idea:
“Anthony is a big puncher but I’ll be wearing the suit so I imagine he could break his hands. If I’m being honest, and this is off the record, there isn’t a hope in hell I could beat him in a normal fight. Have you seen him? Abs that remind me of Peter Andre’s Mysterious Girl video. I’ll have no rockets or guns on the suit so it’ll be a fairly fair fight”.
Joshua was very optimistic about his chances of overcoming Parker, Robocop suit or not:
“If he wasn’t wearing the suit, I’d probably knock him out in around 2 rounds. With the suit on, it might give the fans a few more rounds to watch me do my thing. I’m an athlete and will overcome any opponent in the ring, even one dressed head to toe in a carbon fiber suit”.
Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn called it the “fight of the century, man vs. machine”. When a journalist pointed out that it was actually “man vs. man in a Robocop suit”, Hearn pointed up to space and screamed “war of the worlds!!!”. Tickets for this farcical event have already been sold out and pay per view is available at 300 pounds.
