Sky have been proven right in their hyperbolic marketing efforts, they were just over two decades early. Man United can now prove that the Premier League is the “best League in the world” by beating Sevilla away from home. Liverpool and Man City won their away ties last week comfortably while Spurs played an ancient-looking Juventus side off the Turin pitch. Now Mourinho is ready to make history. He spoke to the media earlier:
“When I was in Porto, the English and Sky used to say “we are the best”. I would say “where are your European medals?” The same was said when I was at Inter and Madrid. The Premier League team were specialists in failure once they got on a flight. We have a chance now to prove to the world that this league is the best in the world by beating Sevilla. I am not one to take the spotlight but if we beat this Spanish side, we will make history”
Celebrations at SKY
Sevilla are having an inconsistent season and United will be slight favourites for the match. Sky were boastful ahead of the clash and a spokesperson revealed the company’s excitement:
“Over 25 years ago, we made history by launching the Premier League. When Brian Deane scored the very first goal, we knew that it would become the best League in the world. We were just a little premature in our announcement but now is the time. Unfortunately the match between Sevilla and United will be shown on the channel nobody watches, BT, but we’ll be glued to Jeff Stelling and the lads on this historic night”.
Sevilla will present a plaque to United at the end of the game saying “congratulations on being part of the best League in the world. Muy bien!’ in the event of them losing. The world watches on closely…
