Fulham entertain Derby tonight in the crunch second leg semi-final. A place in the Championship play-off final is up for grabs and the opportunity to reach the Premier League promise land. Fulham, who have been struggling for form over the past few games, are intent on not “doing a Derby” at the end of their season.
Fulham’s mascot Billy the Badger revealed that there is panic within the club:
“The gaffer and players are worried that we’re going to end up like Derby. You know, bottling everything at the end of the season. The lads have played so well but now they’re thinking that they may be cursed. Our jersey is even the same colour as Derby”.
Waiting for disaster to strike
Meanwhile, Derby manager Gary Rowett, is praying to the various gods around the midlands that his team doesn’t capitulate:
“We were second at one point but then remembered we are Derby County. Scraping in to the play-offs was surprising but I’m not getting carried away. Even if we somehow beat Fulham tomorrow, I expect us to lose at Wembley in true Derby slapstick-fashion.”
Fulham and Derby will both try to fall over the line tonight.
