New White Hart Lane delayed as builders forget to put in trophy room.
Development of Tottenham Hotspur’s new White Hart Lane stadium was delayed until 2019 at the earliest as developers neglected to place in a trophy room, according to reports.
The London side, who haven’t won a trophy of any significance since 1991 if you don’t count the League Cup and we don’t, were described as dismayed but understood why the oversight occurred.
“Our two first division titles from the fifties and sixties can probably fit in the front porch to be honest,” said one spokeswoman, “and we can find somewhere out back for the FA Cup wins, I dunno , near the gents or the kitchen or something.”
It emerged later that the trophy room was ditched to make way for a trendy new hummus and chorizo – white wine snack bar. Fans were suitably aggravated by the disrespect dealt the clubs 7 charity shield victories and cup winners cup but were also described as ‘accepting’ and ‘resigned’ in keeping with their typical end of season emotions.
At time of writing there are still no plans for a trophy room but developers ‘Bodgit and Scarper’ have begun construction of a ‘Pressure’ room dedicated to pushing the champions all the way, as well as cabinet featuring statuettes dedicated to second place finishes and random giant killing performances in Europe.
